Specialty Coffee Roaster in Dayton, Ohio | Latin Bird Coffee

Finding a specialty coffee roaster in Dayton, Ohio that also understands the local military and veteran community isn't easy — most specialty coffee brands are built around coffee shop culture in bigger cities. Latin Bird Coffee is different: we're a Dayton-based, family-run roaster that's shown up in person for that community, and we roast every bag to order rather than holding warehouse stock.

What "Specialty Coffee" Actually Means

Specialty coffee refers to beans graded highly for quality — clean flavor, minimal defects, and traceable origin — as opposed to commodity-grade coffee sold in bulk. Luz Andina, our single-origin Colombian coffee from Huila and Cauca, is fully washed and roasted to a balanced medium profile specifically to preserve those specialty-grade notes: cherry, cocoa, and cane sugar.

A Roaster With Local Roots

We've served coffee in person at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base during the Norwegian Ruck March, supporting service members, veterans, and Dayton-area endurance athletes before and after one of the most demanding events in the military calendar. That's not a marketing story — it's where our name started getting known locally, one cup at a time.

Why Roasted-to-Order Matters

Most coffee, even from well-known brands, sits roasted in a warehouse for weeks before it reaches a shelf. We roast after you order and ship within 1–2 business days, so what arrives is close to the freshest coffee you can get without roasting it yourself. We also publish independent lab testing for mycotoxins and heavy metals on every tested lot, so you're not just taking our word for freshness or safety.

Order From a Dayton Roaster

Whether you're training for your next ruck march, working a long shift, or just want a better cup at home, Luz Andina is available whole bean or ground, as a one-time order or a subscription with savings on every delivery — roasted in the same spirit we brought to Wright-Patterson AFB.
